Edward Curzy, age 43, born Bladen County NC; a light mulatto, hair black and nearly straight, 5’6 ½”, left leg crooked having once been broken in knee joint; William Atkinson; registered 5 Nov 1853.

Eliza Curzy, age 3, born Bartholomew County IN, mulatto girl, very light complexion, quite bright and intelligent looking; Wm. Atkinson; registered 5 Nov 1853.

She lived among free colored people and white people of the lower order.

Ranaway. From the Subscriber, some weeks since, a mulatto Girl Slave named HANNAH, alias Tillah. She is thought to be lurking in the neighborhood of Laurel Hill at present. She has on a former occasion made her way to Robeson County, and lived there among the free coloured people a considerable time, and she has also lived among, and has been employed and entertained by some of the lower order of white people in that County during the last Winter and Spring. I forewarn all persons from harboring, employing, or entertaining said Girl, under the penalty of the law. I will give Five Dollars for her apprehension and delivery to me, if taken in this County, and an additional compensation if caught out of the County, and delivered to me. JNO. R. BUIE. A PROCLAMATION,

By his Excellency JONATHAN WORTH, Governor of North Carolina:

Whereas, it has been represented to me that HENRY BERRY LOWRY, a free negro, late of the county of Robeson, in said State, stands charged with the murder of James P. Barnes, of said county, and other crimes, and that the said Lowry is a fugitive from justice:

Now, THEREFORE, in order that the said Henry Berry Lowry may be arrested and brought to trial for said alleged crimes, I, JONATHAN WORTH, Governor of said State, do issue this, my proclamation, offering the reward of

THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS

For his arrest and delivery to the Sheriff of the said county of Robeson.

In witness whereof, His Excellency, JONATHAN WORTH, Governor of said State, has hereunto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed.

Done at the city of Raleigh, this the 11^th day of December, A.D., 1866.

Description. – Henry Berry Lowry is five feet eight or nine inches high, heavy built, copper color, long, coarse, bushy hair, Indian like, black eyes, high nose, with a bold look; has a scar under one of his eyes.

Anticipating the sudden dissolution of body.

The declaration of Bryant Oxendine of the County of Robeson & State of North Carolina to Trimegan Thompson of said State & County on the 10th February 1836 who being on that day weak of body but in perfect mind & memory but anticipating a sudden dissolution of body, personally related unto the above Trimegan Thompson the way and manner which he would wish to dispose of his goods & chattels which was in manner & form as follows (To wit) To his his wife one horse & mare, nine head of cattle fifteen head of hogs, all his corn & fodder, nine geese one bale cotton, together with all his household and kitchen furniture with the exception of as much of said property as would be sufficient to pay all just claims or demand against him, in testimony whereof I the above Trimegan Thompson do set my hand this the 11th February A.D. 1836 Robeson County. Daniel Oxendine, age 37, born Robeson County NC, registered 19 Aug 1853. He was described as a mulatto man, five feet nine and a half inches high; rather rawboned; medium size; rather light complexion; good teeth, two out; with a small mole on the right side of his upper lip. Witnesses: John A. Abbott and Randolph Griffith.

Priscilla Jane Oxendine, age 10, born Robeson County NC, registered 10 Apr 1854. She was described as a mulatto girl, daughter of Daniel Oxendine.

Sarah L. Almenya Oxendine, age 9, born Robeson County NC, registered 5 Oct 1855. She was described as a bright mulatto girl, daughter of Daniel Oxendine, no marks.

Senith Oxendine, age 7, born Robeson County NC, registered 5 Oct 1855. She was described as a dark mulatto, daughter of Daniel Oxendine, no marks.

In the 1850 census of Columbus, Bartholomew County: Daniel Oxendine, 33, laborer, born NC, wife Elizabeth, 41, and children Priscilla Jane, 7, Sarah E., 4, Seneth E., 2, Mary Ann, 1, plus Samuel Freeman, 45, and William Gilmore, 12. All born in NC except Seneth and Mary Ann, born in Indiana.

We John G. M’Lean Justice of the Peace of said county and Hector J. M’Lean Angus Wilkison and John McNair freeholders in obedience to the anexed order proceeded on the 17^th day of October to view the estate of Hugh Chavous, deceased, and out of the crop stock and provisions on hand we have laid off and allotted Clarisa Chavous widow of Hugh Chavous (deceased) as follows that is to say one hindred bushels of corn eighteen hed of hogs one Beef all the peas, one Table four Bushels of Salt one Bible and Hym Book one Loom one pot one tray and sifter and these being not sufficient of the crop stock and provision on hand to make a comfortable provision for the Said Widow and family for a year We assess the deficiency to the sum of Thirty five Dollars in money to be paid to the said Widow by the administrator of the said Hugh Chavous (Decd) and we have further laid off and allotted to the said Widow one Bed and necessary furniture and Wheel and Cards as her absolute property and put her in possession of the same
