I am researching my Overton Family ( Free People of Color) from Perquimans, Gates, Hertford & Pasquotank County N.C. Jeffrey Overton b1777 who was his spouse & children? I only found 1 child ( 3rd Great Grandfather) son Joseph Overton b1820- d1916 wife was Crissie (Chrissie) Taylor Overton are on the 1850 Census in Parksville Township, Pequimans County N.C. Josiah (Joseph) & Crissie Overton were married in 1850 marriage bonds Perquiman or Gates county. 1790 census Overton siblings Parthenia, Rachel, Lemuel, Samuel, Elijah, Malachi, Thomas, John, George & jeffrey are little kids Who were their parents, How did they become free people of colro& where did they come from? I know all the Overtons from that county are related because farm after farm are Overton people
