Glad you are here!
While my direct NC ancestors migrated into eastern TN in the 1830s, it is believed that at some earlier point they lived in Cumberland. Namely, they were Ephraim Manuel (1796-1859), and his wife Julia Warrick (1811-188?) .
Ephraim’s parents were Jesse Manuel and Bedea Revel /Revels both born c.1770 and were fpocs. I believe Julia’s father was James Warrick and her mother may have been Lucretia, maiden name unknown.
By 1850, all except Bedea and Jesse, were living Brown Co IN.Later generations relocated to Van Buren Co MI after Ephraim’s death.
Manuel and Emanuel were interchangeable in NC. Manuel later became the preferred form.
Thanks for showing your appreciation, Edie! I’m not a Manuel (to my knowledge :-)), but I have many cousins who are, and I’ll keep an eye for anything relevant to Ephraim, Julia and their progeny. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season! — Lisa
